I think that the fire fiasco from last night permanently damaged the toaster. I was making toast again this morning, and while there were no flames, there was plenty of smoke- billows of smoke, actually. I ended up taking the toaster outside and making toast al fresco, so that it wouldn't smoke up the kitchen again. I'm going to hate to break the news to my mom, since just the other day she was saying how much she liked this toaster, and how long it has lasted- a good five or six years- we're hard on toasters.
It's a good thing we're going to Target tomorrow...
